Information we collect

Depending on how you use WayuGo, we may collect:

• Account details such as name, username, email address, phone number, and profile avatar.
• Authentication information from supported sign-in providers.
• Ride, trip, booking, captain, buddy, message, report, and support information you submit in the app.
• Location data used for city detection, route planning, pickup coordination, live trip progress, and safety features.
• Device, push-notification token, security, and first-party operational event information needed to keep the app secure and reliable.

How we use information

We use information to provide WayuGo features, operate accounts, coordinate rides and trips, show live journey status, support safety features, prevent abuse, improve reliability, and respond to support requests.

Location data

WayuGo uses location to help find rides, detect your city, plan routes, show map movement, and let riders follow active journeys where appropriate. Captain live location is used during active ride flows and is not intended to create permanent trip logs.

Sharing

We share only the ride coordination details needed by people involved in a relevant ride or trip. We use service providers for hosting and encrypted backups (OVHcloud and MEGA), authentication (Firebase, Apple, and Google), device notifications (Apple Push Notification service), SMS verification (ClickSend), postcode lookup (Postcodes.io), maps and routes (Apple MapKit and WayuGo-hosted routing), and vehicle history lookup (DVSA). We do not sell personal information or use third-party advertising analytics.

Postcodes and operational events

Postcode searches are sent to WayuGo's backend and may use Postcodes.io to return matching UK addresses and coordinates. WayuGo records limited first-party security and operational events to protect accounts, diagnose failures, and improve reliability; these are not used to build advertising profiles.

Payments

WayuGo does not process in-app payments. Any payment status shown in the app is for coordination between riders and captains.

Retention and security

We keep information only as long as needed for app functionality, legal obligations, safety, support, and abuse prevention. Account deletion is scheduled for 14 days, allowing the account holder to reverse an accidental request by signing back in during that period. After the period expires, the account and associated personal app data are deleted or anonymised. We use technical safeguards such as HTTPS, server-side authorization, short-lived backend tokens, restricted access controls, and encrypted off-server backups.

Your choices

You can control iOS permissions such as location and notifications in Settings. You can delete your account at any time directly in the app, from Profile > Account > Delete account. You may also contact us to ask about access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests.
